This may be familiar to you.

This may be familiar to you.

There are three sides to every story. Your side. My side and the truth. I first heard these words from a man that I admired and had a great influence in my life. Pastor Robert Armstrong. He was pastor of Warrendale Community Church and a life long student of the bible.

To find the truth and than to live the truth are two very difficult things to achieve in anyone’s life. God has a lot to say about truth, and although this is not going to be a story about God or the bible, you can’t really get to far away from the author and embodiment of truth.

This is about Tiger Woods. I know that so much has been written about the whole story of the accident and the infidelity, but I wanted to put my two cents in.

It seems like where ever I go and whatever I see, I am hard pressed to find the truth spoken anywhere these days. People just can’t tell the truth. Be honest with yourself and tell me if you can find truth spoken anywhere, and especially…… in your own heart.

My life used to always be about lies. I Never gave it a second thought to tell a lie. Now I am much better at it today, but what is it about telling the truth that we struggle so much with?

The definition from the dictionary for the word “hypocrite”, is a person who pretends to have virtues and principles, that he doesn’t actually posses. It comes from a Greek word that means, ” a stage actor, one speaking from under a mask.” Now I know your thinking of a couple of people who you would like to apply this to, but first I want you to take a long hard look at the person in the mirror.

Now I don’t mean to put anymore guilt on Tiger Woods then already is there, but I would like to look at his incident to explain what I just described. Tiger Woods children, wife, and Tiger Wood, needs our prayers and support. Anyone of us, given those circumstances, could have been in the same situation.

Tiger Woods family background is solid. His parents gave him a strong moral foundation, and built his character to be the individual that we all knew him to be. More than just the best golfer and sports figure of our time, but the character and quality of a good solid human being. Any women would have loved to be his catch, and there were plenty swimming around his cage.

A handsome guy. A guy of solid morals and quality character. All of Tiger Woods endorsements, all of Tiger Woods wins, and all of Tiger Woods net worth, put him on a shelf above all of us. The crown jewel of what every parent wants for their daughter. Just think of what it would be like! But with all this comes the recipe for the perfect storm that not to many people have been able to withstand.

All of his family background, training and good moral character would be put through the test, as it is with all of us. All of us have been through the same thing. The spotlight and fame might not be there, but we have all gone through what Tiger Woods has gone through to some degree or another. Before you get ready to ridicule him, how did you make it through your crisis? Maybe you were able to hide it from everyone’s eyes, and swept it away before anyone could see.

I know that I failed my test. I won’t go into all the details, but I failed and I hurt a lot of people and many lives were changed forever, because of what I did. In my case, only the people involved will know what I’m talking about, but in Tiger Woods case, the whole world is watching. There is no hiding place for him.

When this all came to my attention, I was totally shocked like everyone else was. I just could not believe Tiger Woods could do this. Anybody else, but not Tiger Woods. He was the last person on my list for this kind of action.

Tiger was doing his best to hide and run from the truth. He wanted to protect that image he always portrayed. You know the one who pretends to have virtues and principles that they don’t really possess. Or does he?

I do thing that Tiger Woods has those qualities deep down inside. You could always hear it when ever he talked. You can’t fake those kind of things. Yes he did make some wrong decisions. As we all do will we are growing up. I do think that he is coming back to the truth. I pray that it is not to late for Tiger Woods wife and him to make things right. She is growing also and I hope that together they will learn from all this and walk with the truth by their side.

Andy Powell, one of the stars of the Welsh Rugby team was taken into custody by South Wales Police in the early hours of Sunday morning and charged with “driving a mechanically propelled vehicle whilst unfit through drink” under the Road Traffic Act 1988. He was discovered drink driving a stolen golf buggy on the hard shoulder of the M4 just 3 miles from his club’s hotel.

The back-row forward was arrested just before 6am at a motorway service station just three miles from the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel in which his team were staying. Powell had reportedly taken the buggy, capable of just 15mph from outside the hotel in a drunken mission to find food as the hotel did not serve breakfast until 7am.

A Welsh Rugby Union statement read “Powell has been suspended from the squad for behaviour contrary to the squad’s code of conduct”.

Athletes are known for evading driving offences but there is a very real grey area in the circumstances of this arrest as laws for ‘mechanically propelled vehicles’ is not clearly defined. Defence lawyers could argue that although Powell was drunk, there are no strict limits for consumption when operating anything other than a motor vehicle.

Nick Freeman, commonly known as ‘Mr Loophole’ commented that “this could lead to an anomaly where someone is driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, which is not a motor vehicle, whilst over the prescribed limit”.

Freeman stated that “this could lead to an anomaly where someone is driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, which is not a motor vehicle, whilst over the prescribed limit”.

Should the legal grey areas be exploited Powell could avoid prosecution for drink driving and instead face a lesser charge of theft for which he was not originally arrested.

Want to find out more about driving offence lawyers, then visit Mr Loophole’s site on for detailed information on Motoring law for your needs.

Buying golf equipment can be like throwing your money into the wind, but armed with some fore-knowledge you can save yourself some time and money when you’re selecting golf clubs for yourself. As with most things in life, you can either spend a lot of money in one go or you can spend a little several times, before you get what you really want.

If you are just beginning and are not 100% sure that you want to commit yourself to the addictive game of golf, you should either rent golf clubs at the clubhouse on the golf course, or buy a starter set of golf clubs.

Buying a set of starter golf clubs enables you to become accustomed to them; enabling you to concentrate on your swing instead of wondering how this set of miss-matched golf clubs you just rented is going to pan out.

As you become better acquainted with the game of golf, you should consider investing in a better set of clubs more fitted to you.

In general, a set of clubs includes a driver, one or two fairway woods, numbers 4-9 irons, a wedge or two and a putter.

As you become more experienced and start thinking about new clubs, you may want to think about buying your driver separately. Some players want a driver to give them more accuracy, others need more distance.

There are numerous types of golf ball available and the golf ball box will usually have a chart on the back to help you select the right golf ball for your needs. As you learn more about the game and get better at playing it, you should try out different balls which could help improve your accuracy and/or your distance.

Having the right golfing equipment is an important aspect of the game, so buy wisely!

There is a commonly-held belief that golf is a pastime and sport of entrepreneurs and businessmen. It also has the reputation of being exclusive and elite and not being accessible to ordinary blue collared workers. However, this is not really true, since modernization and commercialization have brought this so-called elite sport into the realm of normal people.

This is because you don’t need to pay for sophisticated equipment to play. Unlike big game fishing or polo which require a lot of resources – a boat or a horse respectively – golfers just require a set of golf clubs, which are reasonably affordable these days. Bearing this in mind, retirement gifts for golfers and aspiring golfers are more pretty thought of.

Personalized retirement gifts to personalize golfing equipment is very easy. You could easily make personalized gifts by embroidering such items as golf club pouches or caddy covers. These can be knitted, if you are a knitter or by any similar craft which may require different materials.

Another good idea is to think about the apparel fashion of golfing which means to look at the clothing worn by golfers. You may even be able to establish a new fashion in golfing apparel by using your imagination to create an interesting design.

Normal gifts. The most common and usual method of getting a retirement gift for golfers is to go over to the nearest sports shop and get your retiree some of the things sold there. It may sound a little impersonal to just get the retiree a commercially made gift but then this may actually prove really useful if the retiree is still a novice or beginner golfer. Maybe you might want to get him a golf club set as this is the basic requirement to be able to play golf.

Moreover, you may find some more accessories there that your retiree golfer still needs, but then perhaps you could also use your imagination to think about what things can be made to enhance the golfing equipment he may already have.

Commercially made golfing equipment is also a good idea, if you want to make your retiree feel good by giving him a famous set of clubs, making him look like a pro.

Gags and Jokes The fun part of choosing to give a gag gift instead is the humour such items can create. It also adds to the lighter side of the golf-playing retiree’s party and his friends will be able to join in with smiles, laughs and jokey comments too.

The joke present should be bought quite carefully as the joke gift may represent a sensitive matter for the retiree, especially if he is still a beginner. Gag gift for golfers may be misunderstood and hinder their golfing education if they are upset by the idea emphasized by the gag gift you have given to them.

However, to veteran players who already know the game inside out, the gift of a good gag present on their retirement day would be very funny as they would already see golfing not only as a way to relieve their stress and get some exercise but to actually just have some fun as well.

You should see retirement gifts for golfers as just a simple way to make your golfing friend enjoy life after his career is over.

Good luck if you are going to or planning a Golfer’s Retirement Party, however if you want to get a better understanding of retirement, please visit our website Retirement Planning.

It is never easy asking for help, but in golf, it is almost a necessity. More’s the pity, we often ask our buddies and partners, whereas in fact, we should be taking a lesson or two with a professional, usually called the Club Pro.

We probably think that a Pro would criticize us too harshly, but in fact, they are honest, positive and usually very helpful.

Lessons at the local golf course aren’t as expensive as you might think and they are worth it because your game will improve more rapidly and cause you less frustration, making the game much more enjoyable for you.

It is of vital importance to be absolutely honest about your game. The Pro will ask you what you think you need to learn: driving, chipping, putting or whatever you feel you need help with.

Listen to the Pro golfer very carefully and follow the Pro’s instructions. You may have doubts if the Pro changes your stance, your grip or your swing, but honestly, the Pro does know what is best.

Don’t hesitate to ask the Pro golfer any questions. Don’t worry about whether your question or concern may sound stupid – they’ve heard it all before and will not make you feel like a fool for asking. If you don’t get it, tell him/her that you do not get it. You should never walk away from a lesson with unanswered questions.

For example, a course of lessons might be to concentrate on one thing during a lesson, or on several things. You might begin with a lesson on driving; get the grip, the stance, the swing and the follow-through right in one lesson and then practice it ‘for real’ for a few weeks until you feel that you’ve got it more or less right. Next time, you might decide you need help with your short game, or putting.

You’ve invested in the golfing equipment and it isn’t cheap, is it? So, it doesn’t make sense not to learn how to use it to it’s best advantage and improve your game, does it?

Your swing may well change with experience, your accuracy and distance will definitely improve with practice, and you’ll become deadly accurate with a putter, but you will always do these things while you are standing on your feet.

So, your feet need to be quite comfortable, don’t they! Have you ever got a blister whilst walking or running? It’s all you can think about and it ruins your enjoyment of the experience of what you are doing. Don’t let uncomfortable golf shoes ruin your game of golf too.

This is one sphere where you shouldn’t let your natural frugality make the decision for you. You will be wearing these shoes many times over a long period of time and they should be considered a good investment in your game of golf.

Comfort, not cost, should be your main concern when you are buying shoes. Your foot should not move at all at the heel when you walk, yet your toes shouldn’t feel constrained. Have your shoes fitted professionally and walk around in them before you actually buy them.

Serious golf shoes should be waterproof so that your feet remain dry in damp conditions. Good socks are important too; they will take perspiration away from you feet, keeping your feet dry and comfortable.

All golf courses prohibit metal spiked shoes in the effort to protect their delicate greens. Purchase shoes that allow you to change the rubber spikes easily, and while you’re there, purchase some extra spikes. You never know when you may lose one. You should also replace the spikes when they become worn.

You have many things to think about while playing golf, but your feet shouldn’t be one of them. When it comes to golf shoes, quality counts.

Golf is a game of rules and etiquette, and it is quite important to know the essentials of golfing etiquette before you go up to the tee to play your first game of golf.

Golf is a game of rules and etiquette, and it is quite important to know the essentials of golfing etiquette before you go up to the tee to play your first game of golf.

It doesn’t matter whether you are playing alone, in a twosome or in a foursome, golfing etiquette demands that you must always wait your turn. You must stay aware of the group on the next hole and wait until they are well ahead of you before hitting your ball.

Golfing etiquette also says that it is never correct to “hurry” the group in front of you. If you are playing with others, wait your turn to hit the ball and never hit at the same time as another player.

While you are waiting for your turn to play, go to your ball and determine what golf club you will need to use and how you are going to hit the golf ball with it. This is called “ready golf” and keeps the game moving along. Don’t rush anybody, just be ready for your turn.

Another useful piece of golfing etiquette, especially for novices is ‘playing through’. For example, if your team is holding up the players behind you, perhaps because you are playing consistently over par or taking a long time to choose your club, let them play through. You would simply wave them through, or if they are near enough to you, just ask them if they would like to play through. You will never make an enemy by doing this!

When someone is making a shot, you should be standing behind them and you shouldn’t make a sound! It is so distracting to be about to to tee off and just as you pull back, someone decides to jingle coins in their pocket or noisily unwrap a bar of chocolate.

Replacing divots. Let’s say you are on the fairway and you hit the ball a bit thick and a clod of earth and grass goes flying, golfing etiquette says that you ought to replace it. On some courses you just put the clod back and step on it to press it down, but on most courses, there is a sand/seed mixture on the course to put into the divot. Also, if your ball makes a deep impression when it lands on the green, you should use your divot tool to repair it.

As soon as you have finished a hole, replace the flag and leave the green as quickly and quietly as possible there may be another team teeing off at the next hole) so that the next players can play that hole. Tally up your score and write it on the scorecard as soon as you get back to your cart.

Of course, there are many more rules of golfing etiquette, but these simple ones will enable you to get through the course without making anyone annoyed. If we all keep to golfing etiquette we will keep the game dignified, right?

"Drive for show, putt for dough" is the lesson we've all seen and learned from watching the professional golfers in every tournament and championship either live or on TV.

“Drive for show, putt for dough” is the lesson we’ve all seen and learned from watching the professional golfers in every tournament and championship either live or on TV.

The best players of golf can drive a ball from the tee to kingdom-come, but in the end, it all comes down to how many hits of the ball it takes to get that ball in the hole. The long accurate drives don’t mean a thing if you’re unable to putt accurately on the green.

The choice of putter is very important, but knowing how to use that putter consistently, is even more important. For example, I’ve had the same putter for fifteen years, so I know what it feels like in my hand, I know it’s weight and I know how all that plays into my putts.

Now putting takes a huge amount of practice. Think about this: we drive the ball roughly eighteen times a game (once per hole), but putt at least twice that amount. So, surely it make sense to practice putting at least twice as much as driving? Therefore, if you just can’t get to the practice green that often, you could practice on your carpet at home.

Keep in mind that no ball can make it into the hole, if it doesn’t have enough power behind it to get it there. Take the time to get down on the grass and look at the path from your ball to the hole. Does it slant one way or the other? Is it uphill or downhill?

So, stand with your feet spread apart for balance and line up the putt. Keep you hands, arms and shoulders completely still. Imagine that you are a “bobble head” but that you move from just below your chest. Keep your head directly over the ball. Pull your club back; keep your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders steady – the movement comes from your chest. Hit the ball, following the ball through with your club.

Learn from each putt and remember the lesson. Practice, practice, practice!

We have all the seen the bewilderingly long and yet accurate drives of Tiger Woods. When he hits the ball, it flies through the air only to land in the bang middle of the fairway, 300 odd metres away.

We have all the seen the bewilderingly long and yet accurate drives of Tiger Woods. When he hits the ball, it flies through the air only to land in the bang middle of the fairway, 300 odd metres away.

How can you not become jealous as you wonder if you could ever dare to hope to drive like that? It is consoling to know, that long drives are not crucial to the game of golf.

So, we get to the ’short game’ because without decent short game skills, all those great long drives are not worth a candle.

We call the ’short game’ those shots that get you onto the green from roughly a hundred feet away from the hole, no matter whether it’s from the fairway, a bunker, the rough or a drop zone. It includes all chips, sand shots and pitches.

It is in this middle stage of the game of golf that you get to use the higher numbered clubs, your pitching iron and sand wedge or lob wedge.

Most golf courses have practice areas as well as a driving range. You should spend some time working on hitting the ball onto the green from different distances. Aim for a ten-foot circle in the center of the green at first. Experiment using your wedges, but what works for someone else, might not work for you and your particular swing.

After you get accustomed to performing this drill consistently, it’s time to start practising in a sand trap. Knowing how to get the ball out of a trap will cut your score dramatically.

The way to do it is to plant your feet firmly in the sand with your left foot turned to face the hole. See an imaginary 4-inch circle around the ball and try to hit the outer edge of that circle.

Take lots of sand with your ball and swing through completely. Don’t decelerate at all when or after you hit the ball. It should pop up onto the green and stop. This doesn’t work well though unless the sand is dry, soft and powdery. On hard surfaces, you might need to avoid actually hitting the sand at all.

However, as in every skill in the game of golf, it is only continual practice that will help you to improve your game.
